If you’ve played other two-person puzzle games from Enchambered, then you’ll know what to expect: you can’t see what the other person sees! While the overall structure of Apart in Time may be familiar, the story and components are unique. There is a fun, creepy vibe throughout, with a few cool surprises to be discovered. Teamwork and communication are critical and really, the most challenging part of the game. It’s not always obvious what gadgets and information need to be combined and how, but when you finally figure it out, it is very satisfying. Because the two players’ games aren’t connected on a technical level, one player can complete their side before the other, which is what happened in our game. This was confusing until we realized we had solved a puzzle earlier without all the information. It didn’t negatively affect our experience, and in fact, gave us a reason to walk through both sides of the game, which was fun. Apart in Time is a great game for two players who enjoy unique interactions and working together.

This game is perfect for 2 like-minded puzzling friends to play over the phone. I found the puzzles logical and well designed, and I enjoyed the challenge of communicating as accurately as possible with my partner. The interface feels polished and robust, and I thought the amount of puzzling content was right for the price.

Apart in Time was yet another fun virtual offering from Sacramento, CA-based escape room company Enchambered. This two-player asymmetrical information-sharing game concocted the shadow of a spooky story through creative interactions which relied heavily on observation and communication. As with Enchambered’s previous virtual games, the digital interface for both players was visually attractive and well implemented. Discovering all the interactable elements took some effort, but in a way that never felt like pixel hunting.
Shortly after playing Apart in Time, I had the pleasure of visiting Enchambered in person to play The Whispering Halls, the room for which Apart in Time serves as a sort of thematic prequel. While Apart in Time made sense as a standalone game, it complemented the in-person room in some delightful and subtle ways. My exposure to the characters and certain important symbols in Apart in Time elevated my experience in The Whispering Halls, and I’d imagine this to similarly be true if you play these two games in the reverse direction.
