“Addicted to the laughter”

Down in the sleepy seaport town of San Pedro, CA, you wander into a tiki bar where you are greeted with refreshments and… adventure on the high seas? Along the way, you stumble over every ridiculous meme of pirates, tiki-themed attractions, and adventure movies that designer Brian Corbitt could dream up. This game is decorated from floor to ceiling, chock full of puzzles, and filled with delightful moments.

Brian is most well known for creating the raunchy, comedic Miss Jezebel, now closed. In this Spoilers Club, he talks to us about how the laughter of his Miss Jezebel players spawned a new design philosophy, and Treasure Island emerged from his desire to recapture that magic.

I especially appreciated how candid Brian was about the mistakes he made along the way. He also shares practical tips and a real look at installing an escape room. He talks about all the little touches he added to bring whimsy and delight to this game. It was really fun to look inside his creative process. Listen all the way to the end for an exclusive glimpse at the new game he’s creating in Florida with a unique theme.
