Room Escape Artist

Barcelona is a true escape room destination city. While Spain is known for horror and actors (which certainly impressed!) we also found humor and adventure. There is a top tier escape room for any style of player in this city.

Note that many of the escape rooms in Barcelona aren’t all in the city center. In fact, you’ll see different city names listed on some of these websites… but they are all metro Barcelona.

If you don’t have a lot of time, or don’t have good transportation options, we suggest pairing a visit to La Sagrada Familia (not an escape room!) with The Brewery, which is only a short walk away. Then maybe add on District 111, which is also nearby. These are approachable games in relatively familiar styles, but with some unique elements. And for folks planning an escape room marathon in Barcelona, this also makes for a great first day plan.

Something Different

• 11S, Open Mind Room Escape… Play this one knowing that this is a 9/11 game. It’s an earnest yet flawed attempt at a serious game, and you need to be emotionally prepared for this experience.
• Abduction 3 The Exam & Abduction 4 Enterprises, Abduction… These are games of skill checks, some physical and some mental. Plus, you need at least two teammates with upper body strength!
• Cellular Odyssey, Can Bruna… Shrink down to the size of a cell and enter into granny’s body in order to heal her organs. With a truly unique premise and absolutely zany set, you’ve never seen an escape room quite like this.
• Josep Fontcalda House Museum, 1801 Escape Room…This game was built by hand by one carpenter, and you’ll never see wood craftsmanship of mechanical puzzling quite like this.
• Tao Room Escape: Japanese Massage Center, Virus Room Escape… Go in knowing that the tone is comedic, but the comedy style isn’t for everyone. Also, you’ll change into a kimono.
