“Packed with adventure, nostalgia, and delight, Abduction 6: Tortugas was the ultimate Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tribute. Abduction successfully blended their signature physical style with the best of escape room interactivity to create a unique form of urban exploration.“
REA Reaction
I traveled all the way from New York to Barcelona, only to re-immerse myself back into the streets of New York, and I gotta say… Abduction 6: Tortugas was just as fun as the real thing. This ambitious homage to a beloved media franchise was the complete package: wildly creative and action-packed gameplay, a sprawling and intricate set, and a steady stream of delightful moments. The whole experience flowed smoothly and was expertly paced, from an alluring open to a blockbuster finale.
Over the years, Abduction has made a name for themselves with their unusual physical takes on escape rooms. Games like Abduction 3: The Exam, Abduction 4: Enterprises, and Abduction 5 required much higher levels of physical agility and strength than is typical for escape rooms.
In some senses, Abduction 6: Tortugas represented a return to a more classic escape room style, with a stronger focus on puzzles and set. Yet while Tortugas did not feature a series of physical obstacles like its precursors, it represented a thoughtful evolution of Abduction’s signature physicality, with highly unique tactile interactions that also prompted satisfying ahas. Both figuring out a puzzle and then actually doing it was consistently fun and collaborative.

Abduction played to their strengths in choosing a rugged, urban setting for Tortugas, while also massively leveling up their build skills from any of their previous experiences. The set genuinely looked incredible, using plenty of metal and other realistic building materials. It utilized its multilevel space to the absolute max, building out an expansive and deeply compelling world.
Tortugas leaned into the nostalgia surrounding its source material, yet you don’t need to be a TMNT fan to enjoy this game and its plethora of 80s and 90s references. The world-building was legible for those with even a passing familiarity of the source material (think: New York City, pizza, sewers) from the countless aspects of pop culture that it has influenced.
For years, Abduction has stood out for the novelty of their creations. Their games were different, and in interesting ways. With Tortugas, Abduction has built on their strengths to create a truly top-tier escape room that stands out in practically every category. Regardless of whether you are a Ninja Turtles fan, I couldn’t more highly recommend playing Abduction 6: Tortugas.

Story
We ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time, and our curiosity got the best of us…

Setting
Abduction 6: Tortugas was set in New York City. A chaotic alleyway featured a patchwork of storefronts covered in colorful graffiti. The space was densely detailed, with a mix of brickwork, metal shutter doors, and glowing signs.

Gameplay
Abduction Badalona’s Abduction 6: Tortugas was a standard escape room with a moderate level of difficulty.
Core gameplay revolved around solving puzzles, communicating, and making connections.
Analysis
β Abduction 6: Tortugas featured a rapidfire sequence of delightful puzzles and interactions that my team was practically fighting over getting to do… and thankfully, there was more than enough to keep everyone fully engaged the entire time. The gameplay was remarkably varied and enjoyable through every stage of the solve process. It felt a bit more “escape room-y” than some of Abduction’s previous games while still imbuing many interactions with an above-average level of memorable physicality and tactility. Standout puzzles involved manipulating unusual materials, required subtle observation, and let us express ourselves in fun ways.
β So much of what we touched, manipulated, and climbed on felt satisfyingly real, incorporating a variety of metalwork and other industrial materials. Tortugas was a detailed, expansive, and fully realized world. It was wild just how much Abduction had leveled up in set design relative to their previous games, while still rooted in the same core styles that have always made their experiences memorable.
β The environment went deeper than we could have imagined, and individual spaces used their height to great effect β and for creative gameplay moments. The space was meaningfully designed around our interactions within it.
β While a framing device was funny and never actually unsafe, we can’t condone the blurring of lines around safety features, even for humor or narrative.
β Tortugas started strongly and ended even stronger, while also thoughtfully framing all the amazing moments of the middle act of the game.
β Tortugas (“turtles” in Spanish) was clearly a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tribute, and it offered a range of playful nods to its source material. However, no outside knowledge was required, and you don’t need to be an existing fan (I’m not) to enjoy all the fun this game has to offer.
β As we descended further into Tortugas, we enjoyed an immersive feature that was perfectly fitting for the theme and remarkably well executed.
β A 3D-printed prop didn’t match the level of heft and realism of the surrounding experience, leaving perhaps a bit too much to our imaginations.
β/β Tortugas featured a ton of beautiful street art, both inside the experience as well as on the outside facade of the building (pictured above). However, we also encountered multiple screens with apparently AI-generated images that stuck out for their garbled background textures.
βΒ A final boss battle was elegantly implemented to require collaboration and communication, allowing players to switch off roles and stay engaged.
β Tortugas didn’t just end on the climax, instead offering a slower and cozier end to our adventure which was quite fulfilling.
Tips For Visiting

- While Abduction 6: Tortugas was not quite as physically demanding as some of Abduction’s previous experiences, it still required a certain level of agility. Make sure to wear comfortable footwear and clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty or wet.
