REA Reaction

Volcano Views: Aerial Tours took us on an action-packed and momentum-driven adventure through the skies (and subsequent picturesque landscape beneath).

Set pieces were adequately sized and creatively used to draw attention to the height available in the experience. Effectively utilizing the scale of the space to their advantage, Escape from the 6 maximized an often unutilized segment of room design to great impact, leading our team members to be mesmerized by the effect and immediately drawn to the target area.

A crashed plane on an island. Overhead there are clouds in the sky and there is a parachute, a propeller, and other assorted items strewn about the canyon.

One particular physical manipulation puzzle was clever in its design, but finicky in its execution; standardizing the ease of the solution for all four pieces involved would strengthen the signal, enhancing the momentum of the solve.

Suitable for beginners and a refreshing treat for enthusiasts, we would certainly recommend grabbing three friends and experiencing Volcano Views: Aerial Tours for yourself, just south of Toronto.

Who is this for?

  • Adventure seekers
  • Scenery snobs
  • Any experience level

Why play?

  • Clever integration with the set pieces, introducing one or two elements rarely seen at their scale in an escape room.

Story

We were on an *incredibly safe* aerial tour of an active volcanic eruption. I mean, what could possibly go wrong, right?

Setting

Volcano Views: Aerial Tours was set in an airplane, and predictably, a crash landing site where we had to escape with our lives from a volcanic island.

An orange black box with a green light on it, sitting on the ground beside a rockface.

Gameplay

Escape from the 6’s Volcano Views: Aerial Tours was a standard escape room with a moderate level of difficulty.

The puzzles were dependent on observing and interacting with what you encountered in your surroundings.

Analysis

➕ A shining example of manipulatable oversized props stood out as a highlight in the space and drew us in with great joy as soon as we had access to it.

➕ From floor to ceiling, the set was painstakingly crafted with the theme in mind.

➖ Some knobs and levers in the initial stage were just out of reach for our team members and could be further adjusted to increase accessibility and comfort.

➕ The initial space certainly gets credit for the original way in which players were restricted to the access of all information required for a solve.

➖ Four set pieces in the early- to mid-game enacted a clever solution; however the physical solve only worked appropriately in two of them, leading to a drop in momentum.

➕ A late-stage team collaboration puzzle pulled everyone together to enact our daring escape.
