Update: This article was written for RECON 24, but Birds of a Feather is a mainstay of all RECON events. The general points here are relevant for all RECONs (in person and remote), even if the people mentioned by name were specific to RECON 24.
Looking for people to talk with about escape room business problems, opportunities, techniques, and trends?
Birds of a Feather are facilitated small group discussions. Each discussion will be framed around a topic of interest to escape room and immersive industry professionals. This is your chance to meet with professionals who share your interests, ask questions of experienced creators, and to share your knowledge and opinions.

Our Philosophy
At RECON, we believe in conversation and making connections so much that we’ve designed the event around it. The sharing of ideas comes in many forms and for RECON LA 24 we have expanded on one of our favorites. Join us for some great discussions with industry professionals from all over, as we learn, teach, and get inspired together.
What To Expect
The Birds of a Feather sessions will happen during breaks between the main-stage featured talks. They will be held in meeting rooms within the RECON event space. Each discussion will include at least one trained facilitator. Multiple topics will be running at the same time but each in their own, private room. Most session topics will be repeated over the course of the event to help to provide choices and flexibility to all RECON attendees.
Talks vs Birds of a Feather
It is important to remember that the Birds of a Feather sessions are different from the featured talks happening on the main stage.
For the talks, everyone at RECON sits in the audience. For the Birds of a Feather sessions, everyone in the room is part of the conversation.
Birds of a Feather discussions will happen in smaller rooms, in smaller groups, where you will have the opportunity to contribute to and drive the conversation. Trained facilitators will be on hand to keep things moving in a respectful and productive manner.
The Value of RECON
Sessions offered will cover a wide variety of topics, on subjects spanning innovative ideas, sound business practices, and even emotional support. This chance to connect with talented and knowledgeable people for deep and specific conversations about things that matter to you and your business doesn’t come around very often. RECON might be the only place offering access to this large a number of high quality industry professionals willing to teach, learn, and support each other for the betterment of the industry.

RECON has invited three Special Guest industry experts to lead some Birds of a Feather discussions. Juliana Moreno of the Wild Optimists will host sessions Exploring Atypical Game Structures.
