Earlier this month David and I played Ghost Light at Myss Tic in Brooklyn, NY, with Eric Molinsky, host of the podast Imaginary Worlds. Eric has been a long time immersive theater and larp fan, but he had yet to be sold on escape rooms. We were convinced that he (like so many others!) just hadn’t had the opportunity to experience what great escape rooms have to offer.

The Conversation
In this episode, in addition to speaking with us, Eric interviews a number of creators. He speaks with Gara Roda of Myss Tic, Haley E.R. Cooper and J. Cameron Cooper of Strange Bird Immersive in Houston, creators of The Man From Beyond, and Victor van Doorn and Francine Boon of Sherlocked in Amsterdam.
There’s also a great shoutout to Wild Heart Ranch. (Fun fact: In Eric’s romantasy episode, he covers The Ripped Bodice, which is also owned by some of the folks behind Wild Heart Ranch!)
As we guided him through the escape room world, he was really drawn to the side of the industry that is blending escape rooms with immersive theater. That’s reflected in the episode.
Through these conversations, he learns about outside influences on escape rooms, and how the most thoughtful creators balance puzzle design, game flow, and theatricality. He captures escape rooms beautifully.
Eric finds a lot to appreciate about escape rooms. We are thrilled that he is sharing our world with his podcast audience on Imaginary Worlds.
