“Connection isn’t a side effect of a good event. It’s the point.”

I came across this quote by Frances Vieras Blanc on LinkedIn, and it stuck with me because it captures the heart of RECON so well.

RECON is designed so that attendees become co-creators of the convention. When you engage with the RECON community, the entire event becomes more meaningful. The conversations that happen in the hallway, the questions asked after the talks, the exchanging of business cards during the networking event, the handshakes that happen in the exhibit hall—these connections are what make RECON special.

Shared Experiences

At RECON, creators and innovators from around the world show up as they are. They share not just their triumphs, but their setbacks, doubts, and the dreams that didn’t pan out. There is real value in being around peers who understand your struggles firsthand, because many of them are facing the same ones.

These honest, unscripted conversations between attendees shape RECON. The event isn’t defined by its schedule. It’s defined by the people in the room and what they’re willing to share.

Shared Knowledge

When you attend RECON, you grow your knowledge base. Looking for advice on a nagging tech issue? Trying to incorporate actors or theatrical elements into your experiences? Wondering if you should be open on Tuesdays? RECON attendees are professionals with expertise in the areas you’re looking to improve, and they’re open to sharing what they know.

This symbiotic giving and receiving of information helps build a more resilient industry and is what makes RECON the go-to place to learn about real-world solutions.

Shared Passion

It’s easy to find people who work in this industry. It’s harder to find people who love it the way you do. That passion doesn’t stay confined to the RECON convention floor. It follows attendees home, into group chats, follow-up emails, and trips planned around a shared favorite game.

They become the people who text you when a new game in your favorite genre launches and who make an unfamiliar city feel a little more like home. RECON is where a shared favorite game can turn a stranger into a friend for life.

Shared Community

RECON isn’t just a convention. It’s a community that gets stronger every time someone new walks through the door. The connections built here turn into collaborators, mentors, and lifelong friends who understand exactly what it takes to bring an experience to life. That’s the real return on your ticket investment: not just the sessions you attend, but the people you meet along the way. Because at the end of the day, what makes RECON special is you, and everyone else in the room ready to share it with you. Get your ticket and become part of what makes RECON, RECON.

It’s not just attendees who feel this. The people on the RECON team feel it too. I’m Heather and I’m the person behind all of REA and RECON’s social media, among other things. My favorite thing about RECON is the people I meet. Those connections are what make me excited to drive awareness and help get more creators and operators in our industry to attend. I hope to meet you. Please come introduce yourself to me!

RECON Laval 26 is only one month away, and tickets are still moving steadily. Get yours now and you’ll have time to complete the Pre-Event Survey (so your badge comes out perfectly!) Plus, you’ll have a shot at one of the last rooms in our second hotel block. The best part of RECON hasn’t happened yet. We can’t wait for you to be there for it.
