“Every instinct is screaming at you to get out.”

The door swings open, and you creep down the stairs into the basement of a decrepit, 5-story abandoned chemical factory. It clangs shut behind you. Ahead, the dark hallway stretches off into the distance until it’s swallowed up in darkness. An eerie, discordant music is playing, punctuated by flickering lights and the buzz of electricity. Somewhere in this building, a killer awaits you.

This is the terrifying game dreamt up by Gijs Geers and his team at DarkPark in the Netherlands. It was a mashup of horror video game, escape room, and immersive haunt, all on a massive scale. Gijs joins us in this 2-part Spoilers Club with all the juicy details of how he and his team created this epic game. He shares lots of behind-the-scenes information. I especially appreciated that he offered the soundtrack for this podcast, which really enhances the listening experience. Sadly, this game closes on May 19, 2024. However, you can listen to this Spoilers Club episode and live vicariously, even if you haven’t had a chance to play this remarkable game.
