Reviews

🔒 Golden Lock Winners

The Cairo Connection, Eleventh Hour Enigma (Tulsa, OK) – The Cairo Connection’s standout moments impressed us with ingenuity while also flowing smoothly from the story. (Review by Sarah Mendez)

The Crumbling Prince: Episodes 1 & 2, Ukiyo (Melbourne, Australia) – The Crumbling Prince saga proved that video game-style narrative gameplay can thoughtfully translated into the escape room medium. (Review by Matthew Stein)

Dragon Realm, Mile High Escape Ops (Brighton, CO) – This game offered a polished escape room experience with whimsy and even a bit of action. (Review by Sarah Mendez)

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes (puzzle video game) – Lorelei And The Laser Eyes is a third-person adventure game available on Steam. It perfected the trifecta of narrative, puzzling, and style. (Review by REA Hivemind)

Escape Rooms

Bavari Sacrilegio, Escape Room Dorfen (Dorfen, Germany) – This was a puzzle lover’s paradise. It was challenging, but very satisfying to solve. (Review by Matthew Stein)

Jacobs Nightmare, Huddys Escape (Gainesville, Florida) – This isn’t your average 1980s escape room. It’s a spooky journey through an unfamiliar twisted dimension. (Review by Kurtis Rohlf)

Play-At-Home

The Missing Hollywood Star, EXIT: Advent Calendar (tabletop escape game) – The puzzles worked, the gameplay was thematic, the story was adorable, and the component usage was impressive. If you want puzzles this December, look no further. (Review by Theresa W)

Podcast

Audience of One: Yannick Trapman-O’Brien, Creator of Undersigned (REPOD S8E7) – This is a podcast conversation about intimacy and trust in experience design. No spoilers and plenty of info.
