We’ve been thinking about this talk concept for a long time… about how language and communication are integral parts of our escape room experience.

We’ve shared isolated stories, written our ERban Dictionary (Escape Room Glossary), and had fun with words in many ways. Now we’re pulling all this (and more!) together into a talk at Wonderful World of Words.

If you are a language lovers, and moreover, a language puzzle lover, come join us!

World of Words

This event is themed weekend at Mohonk Mountain House. It’s for anyone who loves language, puzzles, and games!

The Language of Escapes

Lisa & David Spira have traveled the world playing and reviewing more than 1,200 escape rooms. Escape rooms are social games just as much as they are puzzle games, and the language at that intersection has led to deeply powerful as well as silly moments. As writers, speakers, and industry observers, they have spent a decade defining the vocabulary of escape rooms, both purposefully and inadvertently. Language is malleable and critical, especially in worlds of puzzles.
