Dani and Bill are constantly creating compelling characters for their podcasts, and they will share a variety of tips for both creating characters, and working them into your games in ways that aren’t simply, “hire actors.”

Inspiration from European Horror: Whether You Like It of Not

Horror escape rooms in Europe are exceptionally popular with both experienced players and newbies. These games are also fundamentally different from the kinds of horror that we see in the United States. Jana Erbes has been both designing horror escape rooms and creating documentaries about them for years. Join her as she helps us understand what makes these games so special and different.

Make Stuff Fast: Rapid Prototyping for Interactive Experiences

If time is money, then speed is a superpower when building things. Lyra Levin has worked on projects ranging from The Attraction (Palace Games) to giant fighting mechs, and she will be at RECON to share practical rapid prototyping skills. She’ll provide foundational knowledge for a variety of skillsets and help you learn how to make props quickly.

Lisa and David have a deep love of magic… and this has been illustrated by all of the magicians who have graced RECON’s stages since the very beginning. Join them for their most ambitious talk to-date as they share and demonstrate how the tools and methods of magic have practical applications in escape room design.
