Crammed with solid puzzles, and classic escape room gameplay, Southport School for Wizards was the Harry Potter-inspired game that a lot of escape room creators strive (less successfully) to create.

Maine Escape Games captured the vibe and allure of Harry Potter without using any of the names or props… and did it with style.

A wide view of the wizarding school, in focus is a book titled, "Kingdoms: Every King Needs One."

If you’re visiting Portland, Maine, Dr. Jem’s Time Trap is the must-play game. However, if you’re looking for a second game (or you love Harry Potter!), make it this one.

Dr. Gem’s Time Trap was a joy.

The technology-focused interactions that made up the gameplay were well crafted and responsive. The game world was elegantly designed and fun to occupy.

This was a puzzle-focused game where each puzzle was as well thought out as it was competently built.

A wide view of the time machine, it has a wood and metal, old meets new aesthetic.

Portland, Maine doesn’t have a lot of escape room companies, but Maine Escape Games is doing this right. If you’re in the region, this is a must-play game. It’s not pushing boundaries; it’s simply executing in all of the right ways.

Story
