Updated October 13, 2020 – Due to apocalypse, this tour has been delayed from it’s original date to April 18, 2021. We will continue to actively monitor the state of the world and adapt as needed.
For our 5th escape room tour, we’re doing something a little different – a small scale, 1-day event in our home market of NY/ NJ to visit one of our favorite companies… that happens to be a challenge to get to.
Northern New Jersey Tour
Our spring tour is designed for New Yorkers. Take a bus from New York City to visit 13th Hour Escape Rooms in Wharton, NJ.
Escape Immerse Explore: The Hayden Farm 2020
Their escape rooms are all set in the whimsically murderous Hayden Family farm. The facility itself is fully themed against this backdrop. They build challenging, puzzley games in their grimly beautiful environment.
The Haydens are kind of horror, kind of funny, and very charming. We liken 13th Hour’s games to Tim Burton’s work (but with a lot less red, black, and white… and no Johnny Depp).

Why 13th Hour Escape Rooms?
13th Hour Escape Rooms is consistently a favorite among locals and visitors who can make the journey to Wharton, New Jersey.
We love their stuff… and we know a lot of folks in NYC (locals & visitors) can’t figure out how to make a trip to 13th Hour logistically viable. We figured we’d solve this problem by throwing a bus at it.
Are there any Golden Lock Award-winning games on this tour?
Can I buy a ticket to Escape Immerse Explore: The Hayden Farm if I’ve already played games at 13th Hour Escape Rooms?
That’s going to depend how much you’ve already played.
Contact us. We’ll make it work if we can.
How will we get to 13th Hour Escape Rooms?
We will run a bus from a central location in Manhattan to 13th Hour Escape Rooms. The bus will pick you up in the morning and drop you off at the end of the day.
What if I don’t live in New York City?
We encourage you to travel to New York City and take the bus with the group!
You are also welcome to drive yourself to 13th Hour Escape Rooms and meet the group for the games. Note that the ticket price does not change if you choose not to take the bus. The bus journey is part of the experience.
When do events start & end?
The bus pickup will be early in the day on Sunday, April 5, 2020. Plan to get back to Manhattan late in the day.
Will I get to choose which escape rooms I play?
No, but we’ll choose games specifically for you. You’ll fill out a fun pre-tour survey about your escape room preferences. We’re confident you’ll play a lot of games that you’ll love.
I’ve heard these games are scary. Is that true?
These are not especially scary games. We don’t consider them horror because back when we took our first trip to 13th Hour, Lisa really struggled with horror games, and she loved playing their stuff.
They are creepy, they are intense, they have some jump scares, and some of the games have a bit of gore. We will customize your experience and which games you play based on your survey responses.
If you’re on the fence and need to talk through anything with us, please contact us.
Are there actors in the games?
That depends on your preferences. Do you want actors in your games?
13th Hour puts The Hayden Family into their games on weekends in October and for a few special occasions each year. Our tour is one such special occasion.
When we send you your survey, you’ll be able to tell us how you feel about actors, and we’ll customize around your needs.
Personally, we love their actors. They are playful and a lot of fun, but we also understand why someone would prefer to not add that wildcard into their experience.
Can I choose my teammates?
You may flag 1 other person to play all of your games with. We guarantee this request will be honored… provided that you both request one another.
You may request as many people as you’d like to have on your team for at least a few games and we’ll honor these requests to the best of our ability.
I don’t know anyone else coming. Will that be a problem?
Not at all. Many of our Explorers are solo travelers. Coming alone is just an opportunity to meet new friends.
We’ll put you in groups with other escape room enthusiasts from near, and probably also far.
What if I don’t like my teammates?
We will use the pre-tour surveys to group you with teammates whom we think you’ll enjoy playing with. On past tours, many groups loved playing together so much that they booked additional rooms together at the end of the tour.
We will also try to vary your teammates as much as possible.
What should I do about airfare and hotels?
If you are traveling to New York City or Northern New Jersey for this tour, note that your ticket does not cover travel or lodging.
Are meals included in the ticket price?
Your ticket includes at least one catered group meal.
I can’t make it that weekend. Will you run this tour again?
We can’t really say. We are planning to run additional tours, but they may go to other destinations.
What about New Orleans? Will you run that tour again?
We will not be running a tour to New Orleans in 2020. We may run it again in future years, but it’s too early to say.
Will there be other Escape, Immerse, Explore tours in 2020?
Our Grand Tour of 2020, Escape Immerse Explore: Montreal, is already sold out. We are not planning any other tours in 2020.
We are running our first escape room convention in 2020, RECON. If you’re in the industry in any way, or you’re thinking about getting into the escape room industry, you should come to that.
I’m an escape room owner/ employee or immersive experience designer. Can I participate?
Yes! All are welcome.
I have nothing to do with the escape room industry. I just want to play all the games! Can I participate?
Yes! Really… all are welcome.
I live in New York City or Northern New Jersey and I’ve already played all the games. How can I participate?
Send us a message. We’d love for you to be involved.
Can I buy a ticket for someone under 18?
Unfortunately, no. All participants must be 18 years of age at the start of the tour.
This is an insurance thing.
Can I sponsor an Escape Immerse Explore event?
Contact us about sponsorship opportunities. We are not accepting escape room companies as sponsors.
