At Room Escape Artist, we believe that escape rooms are a storytelling medium… and we are excited to explore this topic more throughly at RECON Laval with Arcturus Wang from Boxaroo in Boston, MA.

Can puzzles improve your storytelling?

Arcturus will share insights on how to merge puzzle design with immersive storytelling, and demonstrate how telling story through player action creates wonderous games.

About Arcturus

Arcturus has spent the past decade wedged in the space between puzzle hunts and escape rooms. They enjoy writing and solving puzzles that play with convention and make people question their sanity definition of a puzzle, and have written puzzles for a wide range of audiences, from puzzles designed to hook in new puzzlers to difficult metapuzzles for the MIT Mystery Hunt.

They accidentally quit their career as a software engineer in 2022 and have been happily ensconced at Boxaroo since then, helping revamp the large puzzle events and writing new ones in addition to their other duties. They may or may not be a collective of three puzzle-hungry raccoons in a trenchcoat.
