Escape rooms aren’t a new type of fun, but over the last decade, they have evolved in different directions that generally make them more fun for a wider audience.

Studying Fun

We had a great time talking with host David Thomas, who we met at his event, the Denver Immersive Gathering, in 2022. He is an academic who studies fun, and explores different types of fun on his podcast The Fun Question. David was really open to learning all about how escape rooms have evolved and the different styles that have emerged… and of course, why they are fun!

We also shared some tips for finding great escape rooms so that more people can hopefully join in the fun.
