Escape Immerse Explore Montreal 2025
Montreal is – without a doubt – the top escape room market in North America. It is home to five TERPECA 2024 winners, including the best game in the word: Magnifico (#1), The Forgotten Cathedral (#3), Wardrobe for Sale (#14) and The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen (#37) at Escaparium.
The Family (#49) at Escaparium’s Shawinigan location is nearby, and we’ll encourage folks to go play it with their new friends from the Tour.
The games from other featured companies, Immersia and Sauve Qui Peut, along with other games for Escaparium, again placed strongly in 2024 as TERPECA Finalists.
Montreal is – without a doubt – the top escape room market in North America. It is home to four TERPECA 2023 winners: The Forgotten Cathedral (#4), Wardrobe for Sale (#7) and The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen (#28) at Escaparium, and Project R.E.S.E.T (#98) at Immersia.

This June, both Escaparium and Immersia will have new games open. Escaparium’s 2.5 hour epic Magnifico’s Circus recently opened to outstanding reviews. (Watch for a REA review coming this spring.)
Plus, you’ll take a bus to Sauve Qui Peut, a quirky company with unique games in the adorable riverside town of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
The games on this Tour combine detailed set design with puzzle-forward gameplay, storytelling, and in some cases, societal commentary. You’ll enjoy settings and stories you’ve likely seldom encountered, along with unusual game mechanics. You’ll also experience some of the most impressive set design in North America. Escaparium is building at a scale that few would even think to rival.
Last time we took a Tour to Montreal (May 2023), it sold out in exactly 1 week, so we introduced a second session. Since then, this top tier escape room market has only improved, and we’ve designed a Tour that showcases all the top games, and gives you ample opportunity to connect with other players and play as much as you desire.

FAQ
Why Montreal?
This is the top escape room market in North America. It’s that simple.
Since it can be hard to get to Sauve Qui Peut and hard get a team together for some of Escaparium’s enormous adventures, we’ve designed the Tour to make it easy for you to visit. Plus some of these games really make you think, and you’ll want to talk about them with others who are sharing the experience. The best way to do that is to join this Tour.
How many Tours have you taken to Montreal?
This will be the third.
We first took a trip to Montreal in 2019 and we absolutely loved the games. We were about halfway through the trip when we started thinking, “we might want to take a Tour here.” We started planning this on the drive home at the end of the weekend.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to run that Tour in 2020, as planned due to the pandemic, but when the border reopened in the fall of 2021 we brought 60 people to experience the wonder of these games. We had an amazing time.
As these creators continued to innovate, we brought another 65 people back to Montreal in 2023 to experience the magic and adventure of the Montreal escape rooms.
We’re excited to bring another group to Montreal in 2025. The top games are even more impressive today than they were on our earlier Tours.
Are there any Golden Lock Award-winning games on this Tour?
Yes!
Wrath of Poseidon at Sauve Qui Peut won a Golden Lock award in 2019.
The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen at Escaparium and The Grand Immersia Hotel at Immersia won Golden Lock awards in 2020.
Rain Corp. at Escaparium and The Salutem Medicina Institute at Immersia won Golden Lock awards in 2022.
The Forgotten Cathedral and Wardrobe for Sale at Escaparium and Project R.E.S.E.T. at Immersia won Golden Lock awards in 2024.
Falderon Forest is also a standout game. We played it before it was completed, but had we played it in its final form, it too, would likely have won.
The Wizard Four and the Rise of Lord Thulsa at Escaparium is not officially on the Tour. We aren’t using Escaparium’s Dorval location this time. However, it won a Golden Lock award in 2019 and you can visit it on your own while you are in town.
Do I need a passport?
Yes, you will need a valid passport to enter Canada.
You are responsible for your own border crossing.
You are responsible for your own border crossing.
You are responsible for your own border crossing.
If you are an American and you don’t have a passport yet, start that process early. It can take a while.
Can I buy a ticket as a Canadian?
Yes! On past Tours were were unable to sell to Canadians, but we’ve gotten that sorted out. Canadians are welcome to buy tickets to this Montreal Tour.
Can I buy an Optimal or Essential ticket if I’ve already played games at these companies in Montreal?
That’s going to depend how much you’ve already played.
Contact us. We’ll make it work if we can.
What is the difference between Session 1 and Session 2?
Session 1 is Sunday, June 1st – Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025. There were both Optimal and Essential Tickets available for Session 1. This event sold out in pre-sale.
Session 2 was added later. It is Sunday, June 8th – Tuesday, June 10th, 2025. There are only Optimal Tickets available for Session 2, for now. The price is a little higher for Session 2 because our costs are higher on this second round.
How will we get from game to game?
We will be going by bus to Sauve Qui Peut, as it’s about an hour from Laval, where we’ll be staying.
For the games in Laval and Boisbriand, Uber/ Taxi should suffice. You could also rent a car if you prefer. We have more detailed recommendations for transportation in the attendee documentation.
What is this “Laval/ Dorval/ Boisbriand/ Montreal” thing I keep reading?
All of these municipalities are suburbs of Montreal. Really this is more a Tour of Montreal suburbs than it is the city itself.
Escaparium has multiple locations including Dorval and Laval. On their website the Dorval location is called “Montreal” and the Laval location is called “Laval.” As part of this Tour, you’ll play games at their Laval location.
Immersia has 2 locations: Boisbriand and Laval. As part of this Tour, you’ll play games at the Boisbriand location.
Do I need to speak French?
No. All the escape rooms are 100% playable in English. They can also all be played in French, and you’ll see different ways of tackling bilingualism in escape rooms over the course of the Tour.
Quebec is bilingual. Don’t be alarmed when people greet you by saying “bonjour – hi.” It’s a Montreal thing. They will also speak to you in English.
When do events start and end?
For Optimal and Essential Tickets, the welcome event will be Saturday evening, and the wrap up will be late Tuesday night. You should plan to arrive on (or before) Saturday. We recommend leaving on Wednesday, unless, of course, you want to stay in town even longer. If you leave on Tuesday evening, you will miss the wrap up event, and you might miss your last escape room.
Is there a “Champion” or “VIP” or “Premium” ticket?
Not, but there are two ticket types for the Tour: Optimal and Essential.
Optimal tickets cost a little more, and have a more ideal scheduled order of games.
Why is this Tour more expensive than some previous Tours?
This is a more expensive Tour for us to operate, and the price reflects that.
This Tour incudes more games than any other. It also includes some of the longest and most expensive games we’ve ever had on Tours. These games are priced as the premium experiences that they are.
Will I get to choose which rooms I play?
No, but we’ll choose games specifically for you. You’ll fill out a fun pre-tour survey about your escape room preferences. We’re confident you’ll play a lot of games that you’ll love.
The most popular and impressive games in the region will appear on everyone’s schedule (unless you specifically opt out of any of them.) Your tour schedule will include Magnifico‘s Circus.
You’ll find out your escape room agenda far enough in advance that you can book additional games for yourself during the rest of your time in Montreal.
Can I choose my teammates?
If you purchase 2 tickets together, you’ll play all of your games together.
If you purchase a single ticket, you may flag 1 other person to play all of your games with. We guarantee this request will be honored… provided that you both request one another.
You may request as many people as you’d like to have on your team for at least a few games and we’ll honor these requests to the best of our ability.
Your pre-tour survey will also help us select teammates with whom we think you’ll gel.
You will only be able to request teammates who have the same type of ticket as you have and the same session as you. This means if you have an Essential Ticket, you cannot request someone with an Optimal Ticket, and vice versa. This means that if you have a ticket for session 1, you cannot request someone with a ticket for session 2, and vice versa.
I’m coming with a group of friends and we’re going to schedule additional rooms outside of the Tour. Can you make sure we play the same schedule during the Tour?
Yes, provided your group is 6 people or less.
While you won’t play all your games on the Tour together, we will arrange it so that you play all the same games as each other, even though you’ll play them at different times. This will simplify your scheduling for additional games outside of the Tour. In order to ensure this, you must tell us who you are traveling with in your pre-tour survey.
If your group is more than 6 people, we may not be able to accommodate entirely matched schedules, but we’ll do the best we can.
I don’t know anyone else coming. Will that be a problem?
Not at all. A lot of our regulars travelers alone. Coming alone is just an opportunity to meet new friends.
We’ll put you in groups with other escape room enthusiasts from far and wide.
How many people will be on each team?
At Sauve Qui Peut, you’ll play in teams of 4 players.
At Immersia and Escaparium, you’ll play in teams of 5 players.
What if I don’t like my teammates?
We will use the pre-tour surveys to group you with teammates whom we think you’ll enjoy playing with. On past Tours, many groups loved playing together so much that they booked additional rooms together at the end of the Tour.
That said, we will vary your teammates. You likely won’t play more than 2 or 3 games with the exact same team.
What should I do about airfare and hotels?
Your ticket does not cover travel or lodging. We are setting up a hotel block in Laval. Hotel block information will be emailed to ticket purchasers soon.
Are meals included in the ticket price?
No, but we will provide snacks and water at the escape rooms and recommendations for convenient meals and local cuisine.
I can’t make it those dates. Will you run this Tour again?
We can’t really say. We are planning to run additional Tours, but they may go to other destinations.
I’ve been on all your Tours. When will you run a Tour to a new destination?
We’re planning to host a second spring 2025 Tour to a new destination. Stay tuned for details.
Wait… there’s another spring Tour? How do I decide between them?
While we love all our Tours, and we are excited for a new destination (details forthcoming), there is no question that Montreal is the top escape room market in North America right now. If you are able to go on the Montreal Tour, that’s the one to choose.
I’m an escape room owner/ employee or immersive experience designer. Can I participate?
Yes! All are welcome.
I have nothing to do with the escape room industry. I just want to play all the games! Can I participate?
Yes! Really… all are welcome.
Can I buy a ticket for someone under 18?
Unfortunately, no. All participants must be 18 years of age at the start of the Tour.
This is an insurance thing.
I’m concerned about the uncertainty around COVID-19. Should I buy a ticket?
This is the world we have to operate in now. We do our best to remain aware and adaptable, and support the needs of all guests. If you are high risk, know that a Tour is a social event, and make the right decision for you.
Is there a COVID-19 vaccination requirement?
No.
Can I sponsor an Escape Immerse Explore event?
Contact us about sponsorship opportunities.
