We are kicking off 2022 with a trip to the sunny Southwest.
Escape Immerse Explore: New Mexico 2022
In New Mexico, you’ll experience the intersection of sets, interactions, and art. We’ll explore how the escape rooms in Albuquerque have been heavily influenced by the movie industry. And we’ll take a trip to the original Meow Wolf to experience wonder at The House of Eternal Return.

FAQ
Why New Mexico?
New Mexico has been on our radar for quite some time. We were intrigued years ago when we met the owners of New Mexico Escape Room. It sounded like they were onto something.
Then there was The Mysterious Case of the Meow Wolf Postcard (which was eventually solved).
In the years before we had the opportunity to travel to New Mexico, its escape room scene blossomed, with more stellar games opening in the region. Our timing seemed perfect. We arrived, played these games, and immediately knew y’all would love this corner of the US escape room market.
Are there any Golden Lock Award-winning games on this tour?
You’ll just have to wait and see since we’re launching ticket sales for this tour before the Golden Lock Award is announced. But we assure you, these games are top notch.
Why can’t I find any reviews for Albuquerque or Santa Fe on REA?
They only just started publishing. You can find reviews for New Mexico Escape Room, Bust Out Escape Room, and Puzzah! at those tag links. Until they all publish, please trust us that these are games worth traveling for.
Can I buy a ticket to Escape Immerse Explore: New Mexico if I’ve already played games at these companies?
That’s going to depend on how much you’ve already played.
Contact us. We’ll make it work if we can.
How will we get from game to game?
We will be going by bus to Santa Fe to visit Meow Wolf and Puzzah!
For the games in Albuquerque, Uber/ Lyft should suffice. You could also rent a car if you wanted. We have more detailed recommendations for transportation in the attendee documentation.
When do events start and end?
The first event is on Saturday, June 4, in the evening. Unlike on past tours, this is an official Welcome Shindig. It includes dinner and programming.
The last event is on Tuesday, June 7. Games will run into the evening and then we’ll do a wrap up, likely pretty late.
Please plan your schedule so that you arrive in Albuquerque on Saturday and stay until Wednesday. If this isn’t possible, please contact us.
Will I get to choose which escape rooms I play?
No, but unlike on previous tours, everyone will have nearly identical game lineups.
At Puzzah!, where you’re only playing 1 game, we’ll choose with your perspective in mind.
You’ll fill out a fun pre-tour survey about your escape room preferences. We’re confident you’ll play a lot of games that you’ll love.
You’ll find out your escape room agenda far enough in advance that you can book additional games for yourself (at discounted prices) during the rest of your time in New Mexico.
What is Meow Wolf?
Meow Wolf’s The House of Eternal Return is an immersive art installation in Santa Fe. Our review gives a lot more detail.
How long will we spend at The House of Eternal Return?
Each Escape Immerse Explore ticket includes up to 4 hours to explore The House of Eternal Return.
We expect that most curious individuals will spend 2-3 hours exploring and taking in this world. If you want to dive into the details of the story of the place, you could spend a lot longer.
If you expect that you will want to be at The House of Eternal Return for more than 4 hours, you will be able to indicate this in the pre-event survey and we will do our best to accommodate this.
If you decide The House of Eternal Return doesn’t interest you, you can leave at any time and instead spend your time enjoying lovely downtown Santa Fe.
How many people will be on each team?
Teams will mostly consist of 4 players, or occasionally 5 players.
Can I choose my teammates?
You may flag 1 other person to play all of your games with. We guarantee this request will be honored… provided that you both request one another.
You may request as many people as you’d like to have on your team for at least a few games and we’ll honor these requests to the best of our ability.
Your pre-tour survey will also help us select teammates with whom we think you’ll gel.
I’m coming with a group of friends and we’re going to schedule additional rooms outside of the tour. Can you make sure we play the same schedule during the tour?
Yes. While you won’t play all your games on the tour together, we will arrange it so that you play all the same games as each other, even though you’ll play them at different times. This will simplify your scheduling for additional games outside of the tour.
In order to ensure this, you must tell us who you are traveling with in your pre-tour survey.
I don’t know anyone else coming. Will that be a problem?
Not at all. A lot of our regulars travel alone. Coming alone is just an opportunity to meet new friends.
We’ll put you in groups with other escape room enthusiasts from far and wide.
What if I don’t like my teammates?
We will use the pre-tour surveys to group you with teammates whom we think you’ll enjoy playing with. On past tours, many groups loved playing together so much that they booked additional rooms together at the end of the tour.
That said, we will vary your teammates. You likely won’t play more than 2 games with the exact same team.
What should I do about airfare and hotels?
Your ticket does not cover travel or lodging. We have a hotel block in Albuquerque near the escape rooms with a great rate. Hotel block information will be emailed to ticket holders soon.
Are meals included in the ticket price?
Your ticket includes one meal as part of Saturday’s welcome shindig.
Your other meals are not covered, but we’ll share restaurant recommendations for Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
I can’t make it that weekend. Will you run this tour again?
We can’t really say. We are planning to run additional tours, but they may go to other destinations.
What about New Orleans? Will you run that tour again?
It’s likely we will run a New Orleans tour again, but it’s too early to say when.
Will you run a second tour in 2022?
We have some ideas for a second tour in the fall of 2022, but given the complexities of events today, we’re not planning past the summer at this point. For 2022, we have confirmed this New Mexico tour and RECON Boston.
I want to come to one of your 2022 events, but my budget is tight. How do I choose between this event and RECON 22 Boston?
All of our events this year are designed for both creators and players. RECON Boston will be drawing from our tour structure, so you can expect a lot of play at that event as well. If it’s impossible for you to attend both events, we suggest that a player lean toward Escape Immerse Explore New Mexico and a creator select RECON Boston. More details about RECON Boston will be available soon.
I’m an escape room owner/ employee or immersive experience designer. Can I participate?
Yes! All are welcome.
I have nothing to do with the escape room industry. I just want to play all the games! Can I participate?
Yes! Really… all are welcome.
I live in New Mexico and I’ve already played all the games. How can I participate?
Send us a message. We’d love for you to be involved.
Can I buy a ticket for someone under 18?
Unfortunately, no. All participants must be 18 years of age at the start of the tour.
This is an insurance thing.
I’m concerned about the uncertainty around COVID-19. Should I buy a ticket?
We’ve dealt with this uncertainty for two tours now. Both Montreal 2021 and The Hayden Farm 2021 were originally scheduled for 2020 and postponed multiple times. All along the way, we took care of our ticket holders, both those who were able to attend on the new dates and those who could not. We will continue to adapt to changing circumstances, communicate with all ticket holders, and treat individual needs as fairly as possible.
Is there a COVID-19 vaccination requirement?
Yes. To attend this event, you must be fully vaccinated.
This means that at the time you are attending the event it has been at least fourteen (14) days since you have a current, fully vaccinated status with a COVID-19 vaccine series authorized by the FDA or by the WHO, such as the Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, or AstraZeneca vaccines.
Upon arrival at the event all FULLY VACCINATED attendees MUST provide proof of vaccination directly from the healthcare provider that performed the vaccination (whether a physical copy or on a smartphone) OR through the use of approved verification app.
Can I sponsor an Escape Immerse Explore event?
Contact us about sponsorship opportunities. We are not accepting escape room companies as sponsors.
