RECON Laval 26 is in full swing. This year’s theme is Resilience. Being resilient is part of why we are gathered here, together. We are checking in with each other. We are supporting each other. Together are are talking about the big topics and the hard subjects.

What I Am Hearing At RECON

Economic anxiety is widespread in the industry. We are sharing ideas, concerns, solutions, and strategies to help escape rooms survive and thrive in the years ahead. Consolidation, chain expansion, and market saturation are all subjects I’m hearing people chat about in the discussions, both planned and unplanned, and RECON is here for it.

Through encouraging each other to push boundaries and experiment, we’ll keep escape room evolution rolling along, deepening immersion with better integration of puzzles, story, and sound design, for example, into the these games. 

We are working to raise the quality floor for escape room experiences industry wide, so that in turn we raise the likelihood that first time players discover something that inspires them to play even more games. Everyone here can contribute in their own way, by taking back ideas they can implement in their own businesses.

I’ve talked with people about ways to reach a wider audience and also to reconnect with those lost customers whose impressions of escape rooms are outdated and inaccurate by today’s standards. Together, we are all striving to educate both the new and the old about what these types of experiences can be.
