We’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be making another appearance at Up The Game in Breda, The Netherlands.
Our Talk
We’ll be returning to the Breda Prison Dome and delivering an entirely new talk entitled:
Lessons from the Best and Worst Escape Rooms Around the World
“What separates the professionals from the amateurs? We’ll cover the best and worst practices that we’ve seen from all across the industry and around the world. From our funny stories, we’ll deliver you actionable advice for building your escape room business. We’ll touch on customer service, construction, game design, and how to refine everything you offer. If you’re planning for the longevity of this industry, learn how to cement your place in it.”
Our Up The Game talk from last year is still available for viewing.
Other Speakers
The Up The Game speaker lineup looks fantastic:
Ken Ferguson, writer of one of my favorite escape room blogs, the UK-based The Logic Escapes Me, will be taking the stage with Sarah Dodd, who I believe wears the crown for most experienced escape room player in the English-speaking world. They will discuss a favorite subject of mine: the player experience.
Juliana Patel & Ariel Ruben of Escape Room in a Box will be delivering two separate talks: alternative lines of escape room business & properly playtesting games. No one has to playtest a game like a tabletop game designer has to. Escape rooms could stand to learn a lot from the tabletop game mode of thinking.
Chris Lattner, creator of 2017 Golden Lock-In Award-winning Lost Treasure, one of my all-time favorite escape rooms, will be talking about a subject near and dear to my heart: upgrading and maintaining an escape room. I can’t think of anyone better positioned to give that talk. His two escape rooms created in 2014 still play as if they were new.
There are lots of interesting speakers in the lineup, including a few whom I’ve met, such as Effie Mor, and many others whom we’re looking forward to getting to know.

Awesome – have a great time 🙂
Thank you 🙂
