There were tears. Tears at an escape room convention. And from multiple attendees. The last time RECON was held in person there were tears of joy and tears of appreciation. The emotional response to that event was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. And this event is happening again, in August 2024.

Beside the talks and the games at RECON Boston 22, there was something else. A community came together. People found their people. That’s what RECON is. RECON is your people.

In Person Again!

The Reality Escape Convention (RECON) returns in person in 2024. The event will be held in Los Angeles, CA on August 18th & 19th. Tickets are on sale now.

For me, it was the in-between moments. The time between the scheduled programming events where so many people we’ve known online for years were right there, face to face. Or late into the night, where new people, just met, were interesting, excited, and engaged. We could all chat about our favorite subject until we couldn’t keep our eyes open any longer.    

In the time since August 2022, while out in the escape room community, I can’t count the number of times I have heard, “I met them in Boston” or “they were at RECON Boston” or “I got this job because of Boston RECON.” Being together in person matters. The connections, memories, and friendships created there are invaluable. 

For RECON Los Angeles 24 we are building in even more opportunities for connecting, for conversations, and for serendipity. I am beyond excited to experience that again when all of us to gather for education, entertainment and community building.

Each year, the RECON team learns a lot from producing the event. Tweaks and improvements are happening constantly. This year’s event will be the most ambitious Room Escape Artist production yet.
