If a graffiti-covered basement nightclub with a giant red “Party Button” that blasts 1990s hits sounds like your idea of a good time, then you might just enjoy Raver Quest as much as I did.
From the DJ’s opening set to the club’s closing clues, Raver Quest was truly a party from start to finish, and I couldn’t help but dance my way through the entire game. As one of Pier Pressure’s easier offerings, every element of the experience optimized more for top-notch vibes than challenging puzzles. That said, Raver Quest still offered an impressive density of accessible ahas, thematic interactions, and engaging minigames.

Raver Quest made a lot with a little. While the structure of the room was relatively simple, the combination of vibrant graffiti, dynamic party lighting, and a well-curated playlist transformed a black box into a visually engaging nightclub.
For newer players or families, Raver Quest offered plenty to puzzle through for a medium-sized team. For more experienced players, Raver Quest is perfect for a dynamic duo. If dance music and a few shots of whimsy isn’t your vibe, or you’re looking for more of a challenge, then Pier Pressure’s iconic Loot the Lanes is the game for you. But for party-loving puzzlers and enthusiasts looking for a lighthearted break amongst Pier Pressure’s impressively extensive lineup, Raver Quest is the perfect game to boost your spirits — and maybe even get in some cardio.

Story
Brighton ravers had been been mysteriously going missing. We paid a visit to Brighton’s hottest nightclub to investigate.

Setting
Raver Quest was set in an underground 1990s nightclub. The walls were covered in colourful graffiti, and evidence of an epic dance party was all around — empty bottles, shutter shades, records waiting to be spun. A DJ booth towered above the dance floor.

Gameplay
Pier Pressure’s Raver Quest was a standard escape room with a moderate level of difficulty.
Core gameplay revolved around searching, dancing, solving puzzles, dancing, playing minigames, and probably more dancing.
Analysis
➕ Our game hosts were phenomenal across all the roles they played during our visit to Pier Pressure, and we especially loved the energy they brought to Raver Quest. This character massively elevated the opening, and they continued to be responsive and fully in-character throughout our experience.
🕺 Raver Quest was seriously such a bop. I was dancing the entire time, and whenever a particularly fun song came on, I eagerly pressed the “Party Button” to raise the volume and the energy. While the soundtrack had a strong presence throughout the entire game, it never got in the way, and we were informed before starting that we could always ask to lower the volume even further if needed.
➕ While the puzzles were generally on the easier side within Pier Pressure’s lineup, they were still highly satisfying and thematic for the environment. They utilized all sorts of elements and actions you’d find in a rave, with a bit more searching and object collection than Pier Pressure’s other games. That said, there were a remarkably wide variety of puzzle types throughout, many of which were solvable in parallel.
➕ A thematic structure stabilized a famously finicky escape room task, ensuring that we could focus on what to do rather than how to do it.
➖ A fun twist on a classic escape room interaction got bypassed for the two-player version. We could envision various creative workarounds to include this interaction for all team sizes.
➕ We giggled our way through a ridiculous video. We could feel how much love and silliness went into creating this segment.
➖ While the ending of Raver Quest fit the story, it didn’t quite match the energy of the rest of the game. Some more theatrics or lighting could help bring this high-octane experience to a more dramatic close.
Tips For Visiting
- There is no parking immediately outside the venue; it is all residents only. Pier Pressure recommends parking at Churchill Square car park. We found Brighton to be a walkable city.
- We enjoyed a lunch at No Catch, a plant-based fish & chips shop.
Book your hour with Pier Pressure’s Raver Quest, and tell them that the Room Escape Artist sent you.
Disclosure: Pier Pressure provided media discounted tickets for this game.
