Pandore & Associés offers their two escape rooms set in a magical fairytale world as a linked experience: Pandore’s Duology. While each game is delightful independently, by playing them together, the background knowledge uncovered in Fairytale Regulations enhanced Fantastic Warehouse. In addition, we were able to spend more time immersed in their world.

The transition scene between the two games was weird, but smart. Cindi touched on it in her review of Fantastic Warehouse. We too were slightly confused by the odd character we met, and the boundaries of the game world and the real world. While that meant Fantastic Warehouse got off to a slow start, reflecting back on it, the set up planted a lot of seeds that had later payoff. Furthermore, the slow pace of this scene allows those playing Pandore’s Duology a bit of a break, and affords Pandore & Associés the flexibility they need for a full day of pipelined games. We played on a busy Sunday and this scene made sure we weren’t on top of the team ahead of us in the pipeline.

By playing Pandore’s Duology, we were able to appreciate the growth of Pandore & Associés, as a company. The puzzles in Fairytale Regulations were more straightforward, heavy on searching, with a small foray into character interaction. However, the best scenes were the high-energy, teamwork-focused and mission-based. In Fantastic Warehouse, the gameplay centered on the concepts that were most fun in the first game, especially upping the intensity of character interactions, and giving players far more agency. As Fantastic Warehouse moved toward its conclusion, Pandore & Associés continually subverted our expectations and delivered magical moments.

While Fantastic Warehouse is the belle of the ball, if you have the time, we strongly recommend playing both games together as Pandore’s Duology. Fairytale Regulations enriches the player experience in Fantastic Warehouse. Plus, who doesn’t want to spend an additional 90 minutes in a delightful fairytale world?
