If you’re looking for an escape room near you, there are a few tools at Room Escape Artist to help you out.

We’re in the process of redesigning the website to make information more accessible, but in the meantime, here’s are the top 5 ways to find an escape room via this website:

[1] Regional Recommendations Guides

Start with the Regional Recommendations Guides. These are curated lists of the best escape rooms we’ve found for many cities, in the US and abroad.

The entire REA team contributes to these guides, and we update them whenever we travel. You can see when each guide was last updated on the Regional Recommendations Guides landing page (linked above), and at the top of each guide.

We categorize our recommendations. Whether you’re looking for puzzles or sets, the guide will let you know where to go. If you’re looking to bring a big group, or a team of newbies, these guides can help you out.

Our most recently updated guides are: Minneapolis & St Paul (September 2022), Albuquerque & Santa Fe (October 2022), Buffalo (November 2022), and Israel (November 2022).

You can expect new guides soon for Chicago, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Rochester (NY), Toronto, and Quebec City.

You can expect updates soon for Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Orlando.

In 2022, our most popular guides were: Denver, New York City, Washington (DC), Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Montreal.

🔒 This month, we added a new feature to the guides: When you see a lock icon next to a game, it denotes a Golden Lock award-winning experience.

Note that we have also curated Remote Recommendations Guides for online escape rooms and Tabletop Escape Game Recommendations.

[2] Map on the “Find A Room” Page

Click on “Find A Room” in the top level navigation to get to our escape room directory and map page.

This feature shows you permanent escape room facilities in the United States. We update it approximately monthly, adding new escape room venues and removing any that have closed.

To find escape rooms near you (or near your upcoming travel destination), search by your location, and you’ll see all the nearby escape room facilities on the map and in the table below the map. If you see a REA logo next to the facility, REA has one or more reviews at that location.

If you notice an escape room facility is missing, has moved, or has closed, please contact us with your update. Community updates help us keep this data up to date.

This page also provides the data for our annual Escape Room Industry Report.

[3] View by Geographic Categories

Every review is tagged with a geographic category. On the REA homepage, you can see the categories right under the title of the review. If you click on a geographic category (i.e. Los Angeles), it will pull up all the reviews we have in the geographic location. Then you can easily scan all the reviews we have in a region.

If you notice a missing category tag on a review, or a mistaken one, please contact us. This is a manual process and sometimes we make mistakes.

[4] Subscribe to Daily Content

When you subscribe to daily REA content, you’ll receive each day’s blog post in your inbox at 10:01am. We publish multiple reviews a week, and strive to give you a range of escape room styles and geographic locations over the course of a week.

By following the daily blog content, you can curate your own list. Save the links to the escape rooms you want to play in your email, rss feed, Morty app, or even a spreadsheet.

You can subscribe to daily content on the right sidebar of our homepage.

[5] Send a Message

If you have a specific question about choosing an escape room, contact us.

If we don’t have a recommendations guide for your location, or if we don’t have reviews yet, send us an email. It’s likely we still know what to play, or we know who to ask.

Or if our reviews don’t answer your questions, feel free to send a message.

We respond to every email. (It might take us a while, depending on when you send it, but we will respond.)

Coming Soon

Your Patreon support is helping us improve all of these features. We are planning major website upgrades and infrastructure upgrades in 2023. We have made a number of improvements to the site over the past couple of months, and there is a lot more coming. One of the things that we’re looking into is upgrading the search function on RoomEscapeArtist.com.

Your support makes this possible.

Thank you!

Thank you to our Patreon backers. We are investing in our systems and infrastructure in 2023 to improve everything that we do, and we’re able to do it because of the ongoing support of so many in our community.
