Update 3/28/25: The Tour sold out in pre-sale! We will not be adding a second session. If you want to attend, fill out the ticket form below to be added to the waitlist. Read about how this Tour came to be and how quickly it sold out.

This October, we’re doing something we’ve been dreaming of since 2019:

We are taking Escape Immerse Explore to The Netherlands.

Escape Immerse Explore: The Netherlands 2025

The Netherlands is one of our favorite escape room destinations. We have been in love with the games in this region since we first visited back in 2017. We’ve returned many times and had wonderful trips filled with games that have captured our imaginations and made us rethink what is possible in escape rooms.

Room Escape Artist's Escape Immerse Explore The Netherlands 2025 logo in shades of orange and yellow with tulips growing out of it.

Way back in 2019, we started asking ourselves, “could it be possible to bring a tour here?” At the time it seemed like an impossible dream. 6 years and 10 Tours later, we’re finally doing it.

Come with us and see games built into magnificent historical buildings, games filled with seemingly impossible effects, and a flavor of psychological horror that brings so much more intrigue than jump-scares and gore.

The Netherlands is home to many of the world’s most renowned games, and it is our pleasure to share these games and the region’s rich history with you.

Tour Dates

Monday, October 13th – Thursday, October 16th, 2025

This is our first 4-day Tour.

We strongly encourage attendees to spend a full week in The Netherlands.

Plan to arrive in The Netherlands on or before Sunday, October 12th. We strongly recommend North Americans arrive on Saturday, October 11th to give yourself time to get over jet lag, and account for any potential flight delays.

Tour events will be scheduled all day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, wrapping up pretty late on Thursday night.

Book your return flight for Friday, October 17th (or later).

There will be limited flexibility for individuals with tight travel schedules.

This will be the only session for this Tour. Unlike the previous Tours in 2025, there will not be a second session or a ticket expansion.

Escape Rooms

This Tour will feature 12 games across 6 escape room companies, located in two different regions of the country.

The Tour will start in the region near The Hague. (We will offer bus transportation to this area, from Amsterdam, before the Tour officially begins.) You will visit DarkPark, Down the Hatch Untold Stories*, and Outerground over 2 days.

You will play:

Then we will go by bus back to Amsterdam. There, over the next 2 days, you will visit Logic Locks and Sherlocked, and take a bus trip to Mama Bazooka.

You will play:

You will play all games as a team of 4. This lineup includes both 60-minute and 90-minute games.

It is not an escape room, although your goal is to escape. It is a 3-hour long immersive experience that is mostly social gameplay with NPCs. As a player, you try to engineer your way out prison.

  • Friday, October 17th, 2025
  • 19:00 – 22:00
  • English
  • €84.00 plus fees

The current edition, Prison Escape Utrecht, takes place in the Pieter Baan Center.

FAQ

Are there any Golden Lock Award-winning games on this Tour?
Are there any TERPECA winning games on this Tour?
Why are some renowned games not included on the Tour?

There are so many stellar games in The Netherlands that we could not include them all, even with a 4-day Tour. We had to make some choices.

The logistics for this Tour are incredibly complex. Some games are not included because they are geographically too far away. Others have too long a run time. Some games only emerged onto the scene since this Tour was designed.

We believe we’ve picked a selection of games that showcases the region, both its historical significance and its future impact. While heavily horror, this selection showcases a diversity of styles, and many memorable moments – driven by puzzles, story, set, or tech – that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

While I’m traveling to The Netherlands, what else should I play?

We have recently updated our Netherlands and Belgium recommendations guides to help if you choose to book additional games.

We will have a Discord channel for ticket holders where we expect many people will coordinate extending their trips to play other games in the region.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, you will need a valid passport to enter The Netherlands.

You are responsible for your own border crossing.

You are responsible for your own border crossing.

You are responsible for your own border crossing.

If you don’t have a passport yet, start that process early. It can take a while.

Can I buy a ticket to Escape Immerse Explore The Netherlands if I’ve already played games at these companies?

That’s going to depend on how many games you’ve already played. If you’ve played more than 2 games that will be featured on the Tour, you probably can’t join. You can fill out a ticket form anyway and we’ll let you know.

Unlike with past Tours, it is unlikely we will be able to substitute Tour games for other games. Everyone will be playing the same selection of games. If you’ve already played some of the games, you’ll be replaying (without spoiling for your teammates) or that sitting that one out.

I’m worried about horror games in The Netherlands. Can I opt out of those?

If you don’t want to play horror games, this is not the right Tour for you. More than half the games on the Tour are horror.

The Netherlands is known for tension. The style is unlike anything that we’ve seen in the United States. We prefer Dutch horror to US horror. That said, horror is an unavoidable part of this Tour.

If you’re nervous about horror, but intrigued, we will help you get through, and maybe even come to love these games. We have proven methods to help players try horror games. If you’re horror-curious, we’d love to have you.

When do events start and end?

Plan to arrive in The Netherlands on or before Sunday, October 12th. We strongly recommend North Americans arrive on Saturday, October 11th to give yourself time to get over jet lag, and account for any potential flight delays.

Escape rooms will be scheduled all day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, wrapping up pretty late on Thursday night.

Book your return flight for Friday, October 17th (or later).

Can you give me a sense of the schedule?

This is a traveling Tour, where we will stay at two different Tour hotels. We will spend 2 nights in the Hague region and 3 nights in Amsterdam.

  • Optional bus ride from Amsterdam to the Hague region on Sunday
  • Welcome at the Tour hotel in the Hague region on Sunday evening
  • Monday and Tuesday at DarkPark, Down the Hatch, and Outerground
  • Bus trip to Amsterdam on Tuesday night
  • Wednesday and Thursday at Sherlocked, Logic Locks, and Mama Bazooka (bus to Mama Bazooka)
  • Wrap up on Thursday evening in Amsterdam
How will we get from game to game?

The Tour will begin in the region near The Hague, where we will visit DarkPark, Down the Hatch, and Outerground. We will offer a bus (optional) from Amsterdam to this region before the Tour even begins. For transit between these 3 companies and the Tour Hotel, you’ll be relying on Ubers. The distances are not far.

We will take a bus back up to Amsterdam for the second half of the Tour. Within Amsterdam you can take public transportation or Ubers between games. We will have a bus to/ from Amsterdam to Mama Bazooka in Bunschoten.

Will I get to choose which escape rooms I play?

On this Tour, unlike many others, everyone will play the same games. We’ve specifically selected these games to showcase the region.

You’ll also find out your specific schedule of escape rooms far enough in advance that you can book additional games for yourself (at discounted prices) during the rest of your time in the Netherlands.

How many people will be on each team?

We will have teams of 4 for all the escape rooms on the Tour.

Can I choose my teammates?

If you purchase 2 tickets together, you’ll play all of your games together.

If you purchase a single ticket, you may flag 1 other person to play all of your games with. We guarantee this request will be honored… provided that you both request one another.

You may request as many people as you’d like to have on your team for at least a few games and we’ll honor these requests to the best of our ability.

Your pre-tour survey will also help us select teammates with whom we think you’ll gel.

I’m coming with a group of friends and we’re going to schedule additional rooms outside of the Tour. Can you make sure we play the same schedule during the Tour?

Yes, provided your group is 6 people or less.

While you won’t play all your games on the Tour together, we will arrange it so that you play all the same games on the same days, even though you’ll play them at different times. This will simplify your scheduling for additional games and other activities outside of the Tour.

In order to ensure this, you must tell us who you are traveling with in your pre-tour survey.

If your group is more than 6 people, we will not be able to accommodate entirely matched schedules.

I don’t know anyone else coming. Will that be a problem?

Not at all. A lot of our regulars travelers alone. Coming alone is just an opportunity to meet new friends.

We’ll put you in groups with other escape room enthusiasts from far and wide.

What if I don’t like my teammates?

We will use the pre-tour surveys to group you with teammates whom we think you’ll enjoy playing with. On past Tours, many groups loved playing together so much that they booked additional rooms together at the end of the Tour.

That said, we will vary your teammates. You will typically only play 3 games with the exact same team, except in one instance, where you might play 4 games with a single team.

What should I do about airfare and hotels?

Your ticket does not cover travel or lodging. We will designate a Tour hotel in each region (one near the Hague and one in Amsterdam), where we will have a hotel block with a great rate. Hotel block information will be emailed to ticket holders.

Are meals included in the ticket price?

Your tickets do not include any meals.

Is there a “Champion” or “VIP” or “Premium” ticket?

No, there is only 1 ticket type for this Tour.

Why is this Tour more expensive than past Tours?

This Tour is our most premium product to date. Additionally, everything about it is a more expensive for us to operate, and the price reflects that increased cost.

The Netherlands is also one of our favorite places to play escape rooms. We believe that this trip is worth it, otherwise we wouldn’t have spent years trying to make it possible.

Do I need to speak Dutch?

No. All the escape rooms are 100% playable in English. They can also all be played in Dutch, and you’ll see different ways of tackling bilingualism in escape rooms over the course of the Tour.

Also, pretty much everyone speaks English in major cities in The Netherlands, so you should have no problem speaking English in restaurants, or asking for directions, or anywhere else outside of the escape rooms.

I thought your fall Tour would be in November. Why is it so much earlier?

Every year is different and every city we visit in different. October was the best timing this fall for us and all the companies helping us host this Tour.

I can’t make it that weekend. Will you run this Tour again?

We can’t really say. We are planning to run additional Tours, but they may go to other destinations.

What about Montreal? Will you run that Tour again?

Yes, we are planning to run Montreal again, but we are running it now, in June 2025, so it’s too soon to say when we will run it next. Add yourself to the waitlist for Montreal 2025 here.

What about New Orleans? Will you run that Tour again?

It’s likely we will run a New Orleans Tour again, but it’s too early to say when.

How do I choose between coming to this Tour and RECON?

Good news: this year’s Reality Escape Convention is virtual, and is ultra affordable. We hope that you’ll join us for RECON Remote 2025.

I’m an escape room owner/ employee or immersive experience designer. Can I participate?

Yes! All are welcome.

I have nothing to do with the escape room industry. I just want to play all the games! Can I participate?

Yes! Really… all are welcome.

I live in/ near the Netherlands and I’ve already played most/ all of the games. How can I participate?

We are looking into an event that includes locals, so that you can hang out with everyone coming on the Tour. Please contact us if you’d like to receive an email with this information once it becomes available.

Can I buy a ticket for someone under 18?

Unfortunately, no. All participants must be 18 years of age at the start of the Tour.

This is an insurance thing.

I’m concerned about the uncertainty around COVID-19. Should I buy a ticket?

This is the world we have to operate in now. We do our best to remain aware and adaptable, and support the needs of all guests. If you are high risk, know that a Tour is a social event, and make the right decision for you.

Is there a COVID-19 vaccination requirement?

No.

Can I sponsor an Escape Immerse Explore event?

Contact us about sponsorship opportunities.

What if I have other questions?
